REVIEWED || Kate Nash 'Girl Talk' Tour Manchester 2013

    If you follow me on twitter you would've known, before I got rather sick I went watching Kate Nash on the 20th April as part of her Girl Talk tour. I sadly missed her touring last time so luckily I got a ticket with my mate Isobel to watch her perform in Gorilla Manchester. Now before reviewing the actual gig, I'm going to talk about the concert venue itself (it's not a positive one). Over the course of my life I've been to numerous concerts from the age of 12 onwards that have been 13+, I have attended these gigs without parents because I look older due to my height (5ft 9.5). Bare in mind that as I write this I am 17 years old, to turn 18 by the end of this year. So while I'm stood in the queue with my friend, along with roughly 30 people one of the security guards comes out telling the front half of the queue that you will be ID'd if you look under 13, which is reasonable as the gig up for 13+.

    However, this idea swiftly changed when another 10 minutes later the security guard walks up the entire queue stating that everyone will be ID'd regardless of their age, now if you think for a second how ridiculous is this concept! There was discussion amongst the queue about this because most because being 17+ have not brought ID with them because they obviously don't look below the age limit. When it came time to let people in, my friend and myself along with 20 other over 13 year olds got rejected from entering the gig because our forms of ID did not display our date of birth on them (we had college passes and you have to be 16+ to go to college in the UK). So being the British fans we are, we held a strike refusing to move and chanting songs by Kate Nash that were appropriate to the situation such as "Dickhead" and "Rap For Rejection". An hour into the gig and after being refused to speak to the manager, we were eventually allowed in with our college ID's but at this point we'd missed more or less the entire set of the support band, only hearing 3 songs.

    So to conclude the rant so I can get on with reviewing the actual concert, if you do happen to know of a band or artist that is performing at Gorilla in Manchester I recommend you don't bother going as even 20 year old were denied access and unless you want to carry your passport around risking it getting lost or stolen, missing half your gig is extremely disappointing. Now on with the proper review, the support band was called The Tuts and I managed to speak to one of their members after their set as she was helping out with the merchandise table. Oh what I heard of them, the band was a real crowd pleaser and everybody was having a good time, I wish I could elaborate more on them but because of missing most of their set there isn't much more I could say except that they're all lovely girls and dress stunningly! I definitely want to go watch them if they're in the Manchester area in the future.

    Now on to the main event and that is Kate Nash! The venue was quite small inside and even though being late I seemed to spot a good place in the crowd, roughly 6 rows back or so which was nothing in the venue! Kate came on just after 9 and opened with a short home made video of her lip syncing along to an old song, which for the life of me I couldn't remember sadly! But it was a very unique and more personal approach for an opening number, below is a photo of the set list which is not mine, I've taken this from a girls tumblr account so if you click the photo it'll take you through where there's more Kate related posts.

    Kate performed every song effortlessly, including some old favourites which got the crowds going absolutely bonkers for as well as her vinyl single 'Free My Pussy' which was influenced from the arrest of Russian band Pussy Riot. Throughout each song, Kate had miniature TV's dotted around the stage along with a projector behind her playing short videos of go-go dancers and basic images of love hearts to tie into the Girl Talk theme. People got invited up on stage and Kate infact jumped off stage crowd surfing to them practically fall infront of me, my mate and some other fans to which we all danced together in a little circle (there's a video of me on youtube dancing with kate ha). Overall the concert was mind blowing and was the best I've been to this year, if you can get around to watching Kate before her tour ends I highly recommend you do as I will when she comes around the North West next time! I'll leave some images below of the gig that I took.

    Dixi has always been a favourite brand of mine for creating elegant, delicate pieces that on their own can be very statement pieces. Soft turquoises and greens run through the new collection quite rapidly, which is very exciting for myself as these earthy tones have always had a soft spot in my heart.  Not only are they incorporating these wonderful colours for the upcoming spring/summer trends but there is also a collection of lilac rose headbands which are my up most favourite piece from the whole collection! The bohemian trend will never become outdated for summer, and I'm so glad the original daisy chain bands have upgraded from the past two years to these beautiful crown like headbands!

My Trip To Fuerteventura 10.04.13-17.04.13

    So I've just returned this morning from my holiday to Fuerteventura, we stayed at Cay Beach villas which were decent however I must add the beds were rather hard and you had to pay for air conditioning. The complex for the villas/hotel wasn't all that great either, cocktails were given out in plastic cups at 4 euros each. There was no entertainment for children while we was there, and only occasional bursts of music. Outside of the hotel however was much better, there was a wide selection of cafes/restaurants (my favourite being Fado Rock) with kids playing areas, a beach and souvenir shops.

    There was a ridiculous amount of stray cats around the island who were really friendly, the locals were also very nice and child oriented. Nothing else was rather significant during the holiday except for the flight home. If you live in the UK now you'll notice the winds have been breaking trees and knocking fences out. Throughout the 4 hour flight home we experienced the occasional turbulence. However when landing, the aeroplane reached top wind capacity causing the plane to have a roller coaster effect, nearly resulting in the whole plane throwing up (thankfully nobody did). Either way here's a few photo's from the holiday, so enjoy!

INTERVIEWED || AngelicaDiscovers

    I'm back from Fuerteventura and tried to post this interview with the lovely Angelica yesterday while I was waiting in the airport, but my iphone app was acting up so I decided to just post it this afternoon, considering I'm home with my loyal laptop now. All links will be at the bottom of this interview as always, and also go tell Angelica how amazing she is! Enjoy!

     I see myself very happy and hopefully with a better job that I actually enjoy. I definitely see myself still blogging in 10 years I see myself blogging 20 years from now too.I'll blog til I'm old wrinkly and don't know my own name haha.

3. You can have any 5 people with you for a dinner, who would you have and why? (Dead or alive)
    I'd  love to have dinner with Edgar Allen Poe,Robert pattinson,Hayley Williams and all of paramore(Taylor,Jeremy.) I'd love to pick their brands for inspiration and there thoughts on life and other things. I Think there very complex inspiring people.

REVIEWED || Ciate 'Sand Dune' Nail Polish

     I'd first like to apologize in case people are freaked out by feet/toes even though you've probably already clicked off this post by now, but I have not applied this polish to my finger nails yet as this is being written a couple of days prior to being posted because I'm away on holiday. Anyway back to the review, I got this pain pot free in the latest issue of Marie Claire magazine which filled with loads of amazing interviews this month should I highly recommend picking it up! There's been so much raving around the Ciate nail polishes that I've been dying to get my hands on one, so when I saw this for free in full size I couldn't resist and boy doesn't it live up to the hype!

    I got a lovely glittery gold shade that is perfect for the upcoming summer and for my holiday once I've got a tan (fingers crossed) I also notice that in certain lights the polish is ever so slightly holographic as well which is a plus. I love the application of this polish as you can get an opaque finish after one application if you don't wipe away the access from your brush before painting your nails. The drying ability of this polish is another plus as it was dry in the space of a couple of minutes and hasn't chipped and smudged when I had a shower 40 minutes after application. Overall I recommend buying Ciate polishes as I will be definitely at the duty free on my flight home! What do you think about the Ciate polishes, which are your favourites?

What's In My Holiday Hand Luggage?

    I always find holiday posts interesting, probably because I'm big on travelling so I thought maybe some of you guys would be interested as well. I'm just doing a smallish post on what I'll be taking on the plane with me for my three hour flight to Fuerteventura. Some things will be added to this (that aren't on here) once I've gone through all the security checks such as magazines, water, face wipes etc because otherwise they'd mostly be taken off me (except the magazine).

    So this is the bag I'm going to have all my hand luggage in, and it is from Topshop I got it this Christmas just gone as a present off my nan and I love it. It's silver metallic which I thought would be great when I'm holiday and the sun is shining on it, and it also has a metal clasp at the top for easy access.

    Because I'm leaving from the UK which is quite windy and chilly at the moment, I'm just going to throw this cardigan over my outfit which will just be leggings and a thin slouched jumper because it's also quite cold in the airport and on the plane so I don't wanna freeze to death. Then I'll just take it off once we land in Fuerteventura and put it in my bag with the rest of my stuff.

    These are just the electricals that I'll be taking on the plane which are my Ipod Classic in white/silver and my Iphone 5 in white/silver as well. I absolutely love my Ipod Classic, it's one of the best Ipods I've had because I don't tend to watch films on it so I can just store a crazy amount of music on there. I have however downloaded episodes of Futurama and got 2 films on there in case I get bored during the journey.

    These are just the boring things I'll be taking in my bag, I've noticed over the past two years that there's been areas to charge your phone in the airport and I've never had my charger to hand, so hopefully they'll be an Iphone section otherwise my battery will probably be dead before the end of the flight, considering how many games I play. I'm also taking some migraine tablets, as I've been experience a few minor episodes over the past week and I'm just being super prepared in case the brightness of the airport/plane sets it off again.

    Yes I have fallen for the John Green trap, I know it's terrible but so addictive. I'm reading Paper Towns at the moment and only have 100 odd pages left so I'm hoping to finish this book either before the holiday and leave it at home, or while I'm waiting around in the airport. Either way I'm always bring Grayson, Grayson along with me to get stuck into while I'm sunbathing on the beach or just around the hotel pool (I'm getting super excited writing this post ha)

    I'll obviously be taking along my purse, which is years old and is a soft suede material from Topshop. Their purses are roughly around the £18 mark and this one has lasted me a very long time, so they'll a good thing to splurge on. I am thinking of buying a new purse before summer however so if you know any purses £20 and below, leave a comment down below!

    And lastly are my Urban Outfitters glasses, I'm debating on bringing just this pair with me or my Ray Bans as well just to get some use out of them, but I'll probably just stick to the one pair unless my mum doesn't have any. I've done a review on these glasses, so just click the picture and it'll take you straight through to it.

What's In My Holiday Makeup Bag?

    Those of you who follow me on Twitter will know that I'm going on holiday to Fuerteventura on this upcoming Wednesday for a week and during that time I will have less posts up because I will be seizing this holiday for a proper hibernation mode, due to stress from college and a few more personal things that have happened over the past month. So leading up to the holiday I thought I'd do this little post as some people said they'd like to see it, so here we go. Some of these products you will of seen before so please bare that in mind, enjoy!

    To start off I thought I'd show you my makeup bag, now this is my everyday makeup bag as I don't own a million different bags I just stick with one till it's horrible and falling apart. I've been using this for roughly 2/3 years now and I believe it was from Tesco's own range, but I'm not completely sure as it was given to me off my nan because she wasn't using it. It fits a decent amount of makeup in and its a great length for my brushes.

    Yes, you caught me out. These makeup wipes will not actually be inside my makeup bag because they're rather large but I will be taking these as part of my makeup routine in the mornings and at night. I don't really have a set routine as it is, but I will be wearing minimal makeup in the day and maybe some more at the night time but these will do the job of removing my makeup. They also smell really nice because of the cucumber essence and aren't overly greasy on the skin.

    I'm a huge fan of revlon products, their lipsticks are great and so are their nail polishes, so I knew straight away which lip products I would be taking and its the Just Bitten Kissable balm stains. With the hot, humid weather I don't fancy wearing a solid lipstick that have a matte finish (as all my lipsticks do) so these are the great alternative. They're easy to apply and are rather glossy on the lips, allowing you to add more for a heavier look or just something to make your lips stand out.

    I'm a little umming and arring about taking the Elemis mattifying moisturiser, as I've recently been developing dry skin patches over my forehead and on my nose. However my sun cream lotion has built in moisture so I think the combination of both may work a treat. The Jergens body moisturiser however is a god sent, I have super dry skin on my legs and as it's designed for extra dry skin this will prevent any additional damage to my skin while I'm on holiday, plus it smells really lovely!

    As always, I'll be taking my trusty stippling brush by Real Techniques and as it's all over the bloggingsphere I won't bother to talk about it, all you need to know is its brilliant! My choice of foundation will be this sample of Calvin Kleins 'soft beige' mattifying foundation that I've had since Christmas. The shade is slightly darker than my natural skin so I'm hoping after a few days of intense tanning that I'll be able to get my use out of it.

    Now the only thing I've slipped up on, up to my holiday is purchasing a waterproof mascara  I know silly me. I don't horde mascaras so this my Benefit one is the last resort (unless I buy one at the airport?). This mascara at first was outstanding , but over the few months of using it I've found it's not lifted my lashes like it used to, so maybe it's on it's way to the bin.

    There isn't much I can say about this pallet as I don't normally wear eyeshadow, but I've had this for quite a few years now and it's done the trick rather well. I use the two middle shades to do a kinda smokey eye, as I'm too scared to try a full on dramatic look. The eye shadow brush is from a brand I can't remember but it came in a box set off a family member for my birthday.

    Last product I'm taking is my natural collection blush, which I finally repurchased after practically scraping the barrel for a little bit of blush. It is in shade 'pink cloud' and to me is the perfect shade for blusher. I'm rather generous with my blusher application so it leave a nice pink enhancement to my overall makeup look.

Topshop || Tall Section Weekly Selections #2

Tall || Neon Animal Midi Dress || £32
    I'm not the only one who is in love with the midi-dress trend and this dress helps to prove why, moving onto more summery clothes (even though the weather disagrees) the colours in this dress scream sunshine. I don't normally like leopard prints with out there colours such a pinks and blues, but this dress in an exception. I'd love to pair this with some silver jewelry to give it a more subtle look, for day to night looks.

Tall || Hollywood Burnout Tee || £18

    Keeping it rather simple with the shirts, is this burnout tee that can be paired with absolutely anything. When the weather does heat up I tend to become super lazy with my outfits and prefer to wear a nice baggy t-shirt with a bodycon skirt and tights or some shorts, so something like this is ideal for that job. The neutral colours help you match this off with more elaborate prints, such as floral/aztec/pleather shorts and not look other the top.

Tall || Monochrome Aztec Vest || £12

    I chose this vest for more or less the same reasons for the shirt above, however the bell cut shape is this is very appealing to me as it proportions your hips out perfectly. Girls who are body conscious over the hotter months can wear these vests and not worry about their hips looking too wide, as this cut gives the illusion of slimmer hips as it falls into a semi-circle. The print on this is also very summery, and it proves that some trends (aztec) can stay around for more than one year which is great!

Tall || Viscose Quilted Sweater || £38

    Even though all of the items of clothes bar this jumper have been summery, we do have to be realistic for the UK weather as we've been having snowfall in March which is outrageous! This guilted jumper is perfect for keeping you nice and warm on cold college mornings but is also very on trend with the quilted effect. Subtle detailing like this allows you to keep it very casual or dress it up with a chunky necklace and some slim leg patterned trousers.

INTERVIEWED || Fashion Fumblings

1. Why and when did you decide to set up a blog?
- I started up Fashion Fumblings in January 2013, so i'm still a baby blogger! I decided to start up a blog as I had been reading blogs online for a while, and thought that I'd love to get involved. Also, I'm an English student and love writing, and thought it'd be a fantastic platform to showcase my posts, and also something really impressive to pop on a future CV and drop into interviews! I think it shows real dedication and perseverance, and shows passion for a subject - which, for me, is fashion and beauty!

2. What's been your favourite post to date?
- I really loved my birthday outfit post. It was my first post with my new camera, and I think it just completely changed the look of the blog. I had been using my iPhone, and I think everyone knows that you can't get the best quality from the camera. I love the overall look of the outfit with the camera and the editing. Also, it was my birthday and I loved the outfit I wore as I'd been hankering for it for agesss, and I had my makeup done at mac - felt like a princess!

3. Your style is outstanding! What are your favourite shops to purchase clothes etc from?
- I am a student, so my style has to remain cheap and cheerful as well as staying on trend. Obviously, like any girl, I have a serious Topshop addiction, but I also like Missguided and Ark. I like to pop into cheap little shops that people wouldn't normally look in, as they often do fantastic dupes of Topshop bits! Also, charity shops and eBay always have little gems tucked away!

4. Did you know you would start blogging from a young age or was it a hobby out of the blue?
- I've always loved writing, and was always writing stories and little books when I was little. I wrote a 100 page book about a girl who wanted to be a chef, handwritten and everything! Obviously technology has come a long way since I was little, and it's only been the last couple of months I've seriously thought about blogging. I've always known I wanted to write, and blogging is the best 21st Century way of getting out there.

5. You're up for Company's blogger awards, you have 60 words to promote your blog, what would you say?
- Fashion Fumblings is a blog for any girl out there who loves fashion! I'm all about my readers being able to relate to my blog, it's all lovely lovely having Chanel bags and all that, but realistically who can afford that? I just want it to be enjoyable to read, maybe laugh at a few of my jokes, and remain stylish on a student budget!

6. Where do you see yourself in 10 years time?
- In 10 years time, I hope to have graduated with a 2:1 (or 1st but who are we kidding!) and be working in London as a hot shot editor! I hope to be in fashion world, or if not, be rocking some pretty sharp suits with some beautiful Louboutins!

7. If you could swap positions with another blogger for 48 hours who and why?
- I think I'd like to swap places with Zoe from The London Lipgloss. She's such a big force in the blogger world, and she seems so so nice. I love how she seems so busy with DJing and work, and I'd love to have such  bright hair!

8. Finally, describe yourself in 3 words.
- Chatty, creative, scatty.

Trend Of The Month #2 || Platforms

    Now don't get me wrong platforms are around pretty much year round but I've recently caught eye with a few outrageous (but great) platforms that I would absolutely love to own! Some of these are from basic brands such as Topshop and others from less known brands such as LazyOaf, I think platforms can give an edge to any outfit without necessarily layering yourself with studs and leather. The selection of platforms I've chosen for this post are all from NastyGal, which is an American based online store, that sell fantastic clothes,shoes and accessories. All of these shoes are different brands, you can find all of these if you search platforms on the NastyGal website.
