Another Corner Stone Of Life Passed

Arriving home from school today, after I had just done an English Language exam completely shattered due to the early morning my mum receives a text. This text was one of the most glorious things I've seen all week. From now on, I no longer have to step a foot into my high school besides my 4 remaining exams.

I know traditionally you're meant to be upset, I understand the concept. Five years of my life time was spent at my high school and for it to go and be replaced by further education is somewhat of a shock, but I'm so prepared to move on, learn more and greet new people, this has been an undying wish for the past so many months.

Through my years at high school, I'd like to think I've developed my personality and individuality has shined through as the years have progressed. I have met wonderful, generous people outside of school also as those within it, and I have met my best friend - Lucy; who without her I wouldn't of been in the All Time Low fan scene. Some people have shaped my life for the worse and the better and now its time to wish some goodbye, welcoming new ones in.

I decided to take some photos of a variety of things regarding school - including my face just for my memory bank in years to come. Being able to focus on subjects I enjoy in college is another aspect I shall be looking forward to, not having to do anymore technology and / or geography lessons again is a blessing in itself.

I wish anybody with outstanding exams passes them with flying colours to help them get into the high school, college or university of their dreams, I'm most hoping this happens for myself. Here's to the hard work the 2007 - 2012 kids have put in through the months of terrible teachers along with some of the lessons. Enjoy your summer everybody!

'The Reckless And The Brave'

A few hours ago all the member of the pop-punk band 'All Time Low' excluding Zack Merrick posting a link on their twitter accounts. To fans shock and utter happiness it revealed art work, could this be for a new album or a new single or totally irrelevant. The internet has gone into meltdown from all the fans asking each other whether they know what is going on.

Some have figured out when trying to save the picture that it is indeed the artwork to something upcoming, if you scroll down the page there is also a countdown, leading down to 3 days. This is assumed as when whatever this is will be released. Fans are wishing for different things, new single, album or even a new tour. Whatever it is I can
guarantee it will be worth the wait!!

Hostel Part II

Now I must say, all the 'Hostel' films really aren't for the screamish, being rated an 18 I would only really recommend watching this the youngest at 16. There is a lot of blood through out the film, a few sexual references and they don't skip on any detail when it comes to cutting into somebody's skin, or slicing their neck.

The other night after I did some revision I decided to opt out of watching the first Eurovision show and instead treat myself with a good old gore film. Now I haven't watched the first 'Hostel' which seems pretty stupid considering I've watched the last two but I shall defiantly be watching the first one this weekend.

The story behind 'Hostel Part II' is the traditional a group of young twenty year old's go back packing, yet this has a twist. If you've not seen any of the previous films you wouldn't know but the concept is that young, attractive back packers would be lured to a certain location. Their passports would be taken off them at check in, but instead of being kept in a safe, they would be scanned in on a special machine that sends their picture with all their details to those in an elite club.

This elite club would consist of very rich people, in couples or on their own that would then bid on the victims, literally the same concept as Ebay. Once a person is declared the winner they then win the person. Being a horror / gore film this would not be all, once you've won your victim you can then do absolutely anything with them as long as they die at the end. To name a few these tasks carried out would be strange fetishes these people have dealt with, for example lying in a bath of blood.

For people that like horror films, gore films or basically don't mind any blood then this film is right up your street. It's been a while since the last film was released, and I don't believe anymore are in the process of being made, but I would be first in line at the cinema to see a possible 'Hostel Part Four'.

Should I, Should I Not?

With getting a debit card quite soon I was debating on setting up an Ebay account (fagansfinds) and selling off clothes and other miscellaneous items that I present on here or things that I just don't want. I could do that, or open an etsy store. Being able to make something would be quite therapeutic and enjoyable, I would have to have a brain storming session and see what people are after for a reasonable price of course. Feed back on this would be wonderful to help me make a final decision, I might do the etsy store once all my exams are over to give me time to make every item to the highest quality possible, so what do you think?

Dripping Blood

Doing art as one of my GCSE there is no set exam, but instead a continuous one. This ends tomorrow, with me giving in all of my coursework and exam pieces over the past 2 or so years. Considering all my work is in school now and there's no opportunity of somebody stealing this idea during this year of exams I thought I'd show you some of my final pieces.

The subject these pieces are under is society, I chose the question of 'Here And Now' entitling you show your own perception of the 21st Century and society today. You are able to explore any concepts to do with this categorie, whether its to do with the development on technology, the music industry or attitudes to other people - I chose this.

My concept is related to the London Riots that occurred quite recently, this event shook the United Kingdom and changed peoples views towards young teenagers, each stage of these pieces won't be clear enough to fully understand and appreciate as there is other symbolic aspects that I've not explained. Hope you like it.

Popped My 'The Horrors' Cherry

I arrived at the HMV Ritz in Manchester for half 2pm, the concert was starting at 6pm that night. When I parked up, I was in front of 'The Horrors' tour bus and they had already been given a parking ticket. I met up with my friends and we waited for any sight of the boys. During our wait we saw both supporting bands 'Bo Ningen' and 'TOY' getting all their kit ready.

Thursday 17 May 2012

Monica Gems

On Saturday at the HMV Ritz, the well spoke about band 'The Horrors' will be performing alongside two support bands. There's tickets still available to order and you can also pay on the door, a reasonable price of £15. Being different to normal boy bands, 'The Horrors' are a more adult classed band, yet they are not dull and quite.

The boys provide a very energetic show, with a lot of movement and special light effects. If you individual music and something out of the ordinary then this band is for you! I shall be attending the gig on Saturday with a few other bloggers, being able to make a full evaluation of the night by Sunday afternoon. Being a fan of the band for a couple of years, I shall be anticipating this concert as it will be my first time seeing them live.

Français

So tomorrow is the beginning of my final GCSE exams, and it starts with French. I shall be doing a French Listening exam tomorrow after dinner, this will be the first of two french exams that I'm doing over the course of the week.

This means more of my time after school will be spent doing final cramming to make sure I get a grade C overall in both exam papers, to guarantee a pass. I will have more weeks for the next following weeks till the end of July. I shall be leaving my high school after my maths exams in July, so I'm able to focus last minute revision in a more intense session for my last exam, which is Geography.

Hope everybody is well, I shall be keeping up with my schedule the best I can as I'm sure people can understand the amount of revision I've been put up with. Everybody that has upcoming exams I wish you all the luck possible, so you get into your chosen college/university.

Collective Haul

I've worked up a few different items that I've bought from Venice, out and about in Manchester and items that I've been given as gifts over the past month or so. Details as where they are from, price and opinion will be below each photograph.

Wonka Exceptional Fudge - Approx £2.70

I bought this in a shopping store in Manchester called Afflecks Palace, a small American sweets shop has recently been set up selling everything from Grape Soda to Twinkies. The shop is run by a family with their children helping out with purchases and sales.

Oh, Lola! by Marc Jacobs - 100mil 87 euro

On my way back from Venice, I hope 200 euros to get rid off so I decided to treat myself with a 100mil bottle of new perfume. I'm a fan of Marc Jacobs and knew I wouldn't be disappointed and I defiantly was not. The smell is so light and fresh, perfect for the upcoming summer season, I would recommend this to anybody who likes perfume to all ages.

Blue & Silver Venetian Mask - 4 euro

Visiting Venice a few weeks ago it was my duty to come back with at least one Venetian mask. I picked up this blue and silver mask which has black ribbon attached at the back so you could wear the mask. It is beautiful in person, very sparkly and true to the hype they get. Picking up one of these beauties if you visit Venice is something I highly recommend.

Tortoiseshell Shades - 2 euro

These were another purchase I made in Venice, as the weather was unpredictable I took along my purple Ray Bans however, not matching all my outfits I picked up these tortoiseshell shades as normally you would pay around £20 in a high street store such as Topshop.

Topshop Glittery Flats - £15

I picked these up the other week in the Topshop spring sale, a friend of mine had purchased these in gold a few weeks prior to myself paying the full price of £60. If these are something that interest you then I would nip into your local Topshop store as soon as possible, to make sure you don't miss out on these unique beauts.

Dirty Body Spray - Lush £12.50

Going through a frenzy of buying Lush products I decided to buy this, being interested in any products that improve your hygiene and smell wonderful this product seemed perfect. It reminds me of an anti bacterial spray dispenser, but don't let that put you off. The smell produced is very strong though, I've been told and believe myself that it resembles the smell is mouthwash. Yet as a change I would purchase this again.

Blue Boy Chanel Polish - 17 euro

The last thing I purchased was also on my way home from Venice. Buying high street nail polish's under the price of £5 I would see if Chanel work up to their name. One problem I had was that after your first coat, the finish is quite thin for my liking. However if you persist the result is quite impressive. For its price however I would possibly purchase one more polish, on the likelihood on this single batch being not as successful as the others.

Birthday wonders

So yesterday marked the 16th birthday of my friend, Lucy. Lucy's been my high school friend since year 9, and shes the other half of my 'All Time Low' obsession. We both attended our first 'All Time Low' concert together, enjoying the experience and its stayed strong ever since. Lucy got a few presents, money wise off our other friends on Friday morning and she'd also got a new phone off her parents prior to her actual birthday.

That night, myself and members of her family went for a meal in a new restaurant located in Ashton called 'Deliciousa' The restaurant is a tapas bar for £15 per head, in groups of 6 and over. You get a selection of food such as garlic mushroom, spicy meatballs, garlic bread and croquettes. You are able to order simpler dishes even in a group meal or separably if there's only a few of you in a group.

Lucy's birthday cake was made personally by her mum, as shes training in cake decoration etc.  As we recently went to Venice together on holiday, her cake had this Venetian background as her theme. Being very simple the cake was one tier with a Venetian mask on top, with decoration added. Overall the night was very enjoyable and I hope Lucy had a good day as I did.

Lilac Suede

So a couple of days ago I decided to invest in another pair of creepers, the first pair I owned was roughly 2 years ago now and are royal blue. I've enjoyed my first creepers, they are super comfy and can be worn with any outfit I own, so I thought it was time to buy some more.

With summer coming up, pastel colours are introduced more often and bring a spring into your outfit automatically. Having white soles, laces then the vibrant lilac base colour these shoes are a must for not just spring but all year round.

Investing in my first pair of creepers set me back by £95 from Urban Outfitters, however with the epidemic spreading with more and more people owning them, it is easy to pick up a pair of original underground creepers for much cheaper. Only paying £27 for my lilac creepers, I am able to buy almost 3 more pairs for the original price of one.

With a much wider range of colours now on the market, you able to buy literally any colour you wish, with zebra print and cheetah print also available. Along with studded items of clothing coming into fashion, you can now purchase creepers with studded detail around the ankle are and/or around the front section.Creepers have brought a new grunge vibe to clothes and are very adaptable for whatever you are wearing, I highly recommend even owning a plain black pair as these beauties are a must!

The Horrors Live Stream

Tonight from 7:50pm Jack Daniels are playing a live feed of The Horrors concert at Southend-on-sea with a supporting band which is still not announced. Known for their very tight black jeans The Horrors have been featured on The Mighty Boosh bringing some fame to their fandom, the band will be performing from 9:30pm on wards with music from their latest album and previous ones. To access this live stream you must also be over the age of 18, however being only 16 myself, simply entering an earlier birth year will prove successful.

JD Roots will also be showing two other bands - The Cribs and Twin Atlantic which have not been announced for their live show, so keep your eyes out for their performances. With The Cribs band being less known than Twin Atlantic it will be interesting to see how their stage presence will bring the crowd up.

Mini Hiatus

Being in the last year at high school I've got 11 exams coming up over the next two months, this means my brain is going to be filled with revision till my ears bleed. Now this leaves a bad patch regarding this blog, I try my hardest to post at least 4/5 times a week to keep everyone entertained and on the ball. However with my exams approaching thick and fast, I hardly have any time to write detailed posts, reviews etc.

I will be updating this blog, defiantly as I find it very therapeutic and enjoyable as I want to do this as a career choice. Yet the amount of posts I do will be limited to 3 times a week, it might but upsetting news to those who are regular readers of my blog, but I'm sure you understand that it is beneficial in the end. I will post a picture of my exam time table to keep you updated with which exam is happening when, and what subject I actually do. I hope anyone who has exams approaching will succeed and get the best grade they possibly came. From now on I'll be posting Tuesday, Thursday and Sundays roughly, although I might break this pattern depending on event occurrences.

Weekend Antics

From Friday night I went and stayed over at my cousins - Dinah. I'm pretty close to her in relative terms so this is something done quite frequently. With that we ordered a takeaway (pizza and cheesy chips) and the night off to a good start. I brought my laptop over as I've recently become obsessed with solitaire, not however as bad as Dinah who's played nearly 500 games already.

So Friday night was good and fun, watched a lot of 'Man vs Food' and also came across another website called 'Stumble Upon' I made a blog post about this earlier on which you can see here. Also nearly eating everything in the cupboards, we called it a night. Woke up Saturday morning at around 10am roughly and so did Dinah after a while, had some toast and put 'Man vs Food' on again - I believe a marathon was happening on Dave.

My Mum and Step-Dad were looking around for wedding supplies as they're getting married in a few months, so getting last minute things was pretty essential. So instead of babysitting myself, my Nan volunteered bringing with her my Auntie - Dinah's mum. Once they had both left, I came across a website with a variety of obscure cupcake recipes, such as baileys frosted cupcake, sour cream raspberry cupcakes and parsnip cupcakes to name a few. One particular cupcake - peanut butter cupcakes caught my eye, and we decided to bake them.

After debating on actually leaving the house to go Tesco, we get ready, left and bought the ingredients. With this we also bought some chicago town pizzas to eat before we start baking. The recipe was straight forward, the measurements were slightly strange as things were done by the 'cup' and not 'ml' or 'g' but it all worked out fine. Without any indication on how many cupcakes this mixture produces, we were able to fill six cupcake cases but then poured the rest of the mixture into a rounded tin and made a cake version to go along with it.

Once they had been cooked we used the rest of the peanut butter to place a small amount on the top of each cupcake and also drizzled melted milk chocolate over each individual one, so the taste of peanut butter was not over whelming. The cupcakes and cake went down a treat with the household, and we will be making cakes again very soon. Hope you've all had a good bank holiday weekend.

Skunk Hair

The guitarist of All Time Low has gone back in time to 2007/08 and has returned to his well known 'skunk hair'. When the band first started out Jack would be nicknamed for the blonde in his hair, the band this year are returning to Warped Tour and as this was when Jack had his skunk hair, he felt it was only appropriate to bring it back.

All Time Low fans everywhere have been going crazy with excitement over his new transformation, hoping that Jack keeps this look for  long time or whether it is just during the Warped tour period. There is a picture on the side showing the new hairstyle the bass player has taken up.

Warped Tour has been a music festival that has gone through all the states in America, however this year from high demand Warped Tour will be coming to the UK. In the month of October, Warped Tour will be playing over the weekend in London. Bands haven't been confirmed yet, but I can guarantee it will be just as good as what they get in America.

Stumble Upon

So last night I ironically stumbled upon this new website called, stumble upon and I was on it till very late last night, I've become slightly addicted. Once you go onto the website, you can sign up via email or your Facebook account and then you get started. A variety of different interests such as healthy eating, pets, movies, video games, comedians etc are in little separate boxes and you click on which ones appeal or interest you.

From this information, stumble upon string together 100's of websites that will satisfy your interests. You could develop a new adoration for an online clothing store, or you could find the review on that new video game you've been waiting to buy. This website is so interesting and has some very useful information on there as well. Coming across a page that you absolutely love you are able to like the pages keeping them in an inventory for you to return to. If you stay up at night with nothing to do this website should be right up your alley.

Magical sparks

If we go back a couple of months to 2011 everybody will remember the craze of onesies, with celebrities such as Jessie J and reality TV stars going out in public wearing such things high stores began to stock them. Primark were one of the first to pick up on this new fad, with monkey, tiger, devil and plain onesies selling for around £12 a piece, a lot of money could be made from these crazy creations.

It then progressed to more higher branded stores such as Topshop and River Island, at this time the onesie craze exploded out of proportional. E Bay were providing
unique onesie designs that became very popular - the main offender the pokemon onesie. Being sucked into the hype I decided to take it upon myself to buy one from Primark before everything sold out and with that I purchased a monkey version. I will not go back ever on that purchase, it is one of the most comfiest items of clothing I've owned.

Wearing my onesie to gigs as I have a habit of queuing for unearthly hours this has been something essential, keeping me warm and making me more recognizable towards other people and the singers/band I'm watching on that particular day. After many months of having my one, onesie I decided it's time to invest in something new and that is the Unicorn Onesie. Being one of the more expensive onesies at £40 I believe the investment will serve it's purpose very well due to the amount of concerts I attend over the year.

The Velvet Tones Of Mr.Barratt

So today, 4th of May is the stand up comedian and theater actor Julian Barratt. Well know for being the other half in BBC Three's hit show The Mighty Boosh - Howard Moon. Dedications are everywhere celebrating all of Barratt's past work, the talented man had turned 44 today and everybody is wondering what he is going to be springing upon us next.

It has been confirmed recently that he shall be doing narration on an up coming project  along with many more surprises. Barratt's voice has been the narration of many advertisements and shows over the past few years, from hospital programs to hedgehogs promoting milk. He has presented a wide spectrum of aspects this man can show to us all.

I would like to take the chance to with Barratt a wonderful birthday for him and his family, still hoping for an extension on information regarding a possible The Mighty Boosh film.
Barratt has also helped directed a music video for the wonderful band Tanlines, with an obscure and slightly frightening twist to it, links below.

Wiping Away The Dust

With vintage and retro objects surfacing I though it would only be right to participate and get something I've been longing for quite a few years. I made the step of ordering a vinyl player, I have a small collection of vinyl ranging from 'The War Of The Worlds' theme music to 'Simply Red's' album. A more modern vinyl which I still need to get my hands on is that by The 'Loose Tapestries', a band formulated from the back of Noel Fielding's Luxury Comedy program on E4.

I'm awaiting the arrival of my vinyl player and it shouldn't be long at all, once it has arrived I'm planning on making a post on how it looks, performs and the difference between turn tables and cd players we have in this day in age. The turn table I have purchased is from Ebay and I only payed including P&P around the £30 mark, also compared to the very first turn tables I have a more modern control for volume, speed and general functions below. Making it easier for me to work, and easier to fix if by chance it has any faults or develops them in the future.
